Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has discussed Helen Worth’s role in his real-life wedding.

The actor, who plays David Platt on the ITV soap, tied the knot with Hanni Treweek back in July after eight years of dating, with the Manchester ceremony featuring several of his Corrie co-stars.

During an appearance on Loose Women, the pair detailed the big day, with Shepherd revealing that Worth – who played his on-screen mother Gail until her departure last year – played an important role.

“Helen gave a Bible reading, Ben [Price] gave a Bible reading,” he shared (via The Mirror). “So we thought we’d get the actors up. I was 12 when I started, 25 years. It’s mad because I’ve done 25 and when I started, Helen had done 25!”

Price, who portrays Nick Tilsley, recently shared his own verdict on his co-star’s big day during an episode of the On the Sofa podcast, which he hosts alongside Shepherd and former Corrie actor Colson Smith.

“I think, before we go to a break, there’s just one thing I think we’ve got to say – what an amazing day it was,” said Price. “How in love you both were, how everyone who was there from work said, ‘What a great wedding.’

“I know everyone’s in love when they get married, but two people, really in love, really beautiful service – went very, very well – great readings, obviously. It was a really lovely day, full of love.”

Smith, who recently left the soap after 14 years in the role of Craig Tinker, echoed the sentiments of his co-star, adding: “It really was an amazing day. Thanks very much for having us be part of it.”

While Shepherd has tied the knot off the screen, his character will soon be thrust into the drama as he discovers a positive pregnancy test in the bin in the family home, though he is unsure who it belongs to.

“When David finds the test, his mind goes into overdrive,” teases our Corrie insider. “As news spreads, it becomes a big guessing game as to who could have a bun in the oven. When will the mystery be solved?”
