Jacob forced to face up to Sarah’s death in Emmerdale as a decision is made
We’re all on tenterhooks here waiting to find out when the big bombshell will drop on Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) and Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) about their baby.
The two are set to become parents (or at least they think they are) and are engaged to be married, all with the knowledge that they have no idea how long Sarah will live for.
Sarah has a life-limiting illness that means she is unlikely to live much past 40. With this in mind and the sense that life is slipping away from her, Sarah embarked on a quest to get pregnant and have her own family before she dies.
Her plans were scuppered when she suffered a complication and had to have a hysterectomy, but her Gran Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) stood up and became her surrogate with Jacob being the sperm donor.
Romance then blossomed between Jacob and Sarah, and once discovering they were due to have their baby via surrogate, Jacob proposed.
But so wrapped up in their world and family dreams, the two have forgotten that Sarah’s life could be cut short at any moment.
One person who has not forgotten – and who has never been on board with this plan – is Jacob’s granddad Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell). Having relented and given Jacob his blessing, he’s been secretly up to something behind his grandson’s back.
Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) stumbles across this something by accident when she discovers a bank account in her name containing £15,000.

She is utterly delighted and can’t hide her excitement from Jacob. He warns her not to spend her money, guessing that it’s all part of a scam. He tells Eric about Kerry’s discovery, who is horrified.
Eric later pulls Kerry to one side and reveals the truth – he’s been syphoning off money into Kerry’s bank as a lump of tax free cash to give Jacob when he eventually loses Sarah.
Kerry is disgusted and berates Eric for his despicable plan, but Eric asserts that Jacob needs to face up to the fact that Sarah might not have long. A medical student with a new baby will need all the cash he can get. Kerry relents, even offering to support Eric with other schemes he cooks up.
But will it even get that far? What Sarah and Jacob don’t yet know is that it’s not even their baby.
Charity is hiding the devastating secret that she lost their embryo and got pregnant from a one-night stand with Ross Barton (Michael Parr).
When this gets out, not only will it destroy Sarah, but could it destroy their rushed romance too?
