Coronation Street lines up festive fury as Joanie’s rampage shocks Sally

Coronation Street’s Sally and Tim Metcalfe are left horrified later this month, when troubled Joanie Michaelis lashes out and causes carnage in the house. As Joanie throws a tantrum and knocks over the family’s Christmas tree, will the Metcalfes be able to get her under control?

And with Joanie clearly struggling without her mum Lou over the festive season, is there any way that Sally and Tim can help to make life a little easier for her?

“It’s fair to say that Joanie’s had a challenging few months since being fostered by Sally and Tim,” our Corrie insider says. “She was removed from the house for her violence towards little sister Shanice and has only recently rejoined the rest of the family.

“But there’s much more chaos to come when Joanie sees red once again…”

Joanie is being watched closely by social services, but she decides to push the boundaries and enlists Shanice in a criminal scheme. The naughty pair head to the corner shop and attempt to steal a bottle of prosecco – but their sneaky plan fails and the girls are caught red handed.

Despite this worrying theft, Joanie and Shanice are spoiled by Sally and Tim, who prepare a lavish Christmas themed breakfast for them. With Mick and Lou both behind bars, the Michaelis girls really haven’t had it easy this year, so the Metcalfes want to do everything in their power to make this the best festive season ever.

But Joanie is growing up and has her own Christmassy plans in place. When she shares her social calendar with Sally, let’s just say it doesn’t go down too well…

“Joanie’s made friends in high places at her new school,” our insider continues. “She proudly announces that a girl from the year above has invited her to a party – but responsible Sal is far from pleased.

“She strongly believes that Joanie shouldn’t be hanging around with this teen crowd, so officially bans her from going to the grown-up bash.”

Sally arranges a more family-friendly gathering at home, with Fiz, Hope and Ruby popping round for festive fun, but Joanie is seething that she’s been stopped from seeing her friends.

When Fiz and the girls arrive, they aren’t expecting to walk into a dramatic scene. Joanie decides to make her feelings towards Sally clear and flies off the handle in front of the visitors.

“Joanie loses her temper and, in a spiteful act of revenge, declares that Sally will never replace her mum,” our spy warns. “Sally can only watch in horror as Joanie pushes over the tree – is her relationship with her foster daughter broken beyond repair?”
