Stephanie and Alex share a kiss while getting Christmas dinner ready — and just as Steve walks in. This is getting old for us, Stephanie and Alex have to be just about fed up… Then Kayla shows up to surprise Steve, who thought she was working.
It’s a merry Christmas, but the kids are eager for Steve to move out, though, which he says will probably be soon since they’re pretty sure it’s Jeremy. Kayla lets Alex and Stephanie know that Jada’s stationing an officer there tonight, so everyone can get at least one night alone together!
Who Is Lucas Dating?
Kate has dinner with Philip and Lucas in the Pub, toasting to getting all her kids in for Christmas next year. (We’re gonna hold you to that, Kate.) Kate asks Lucas about Sami — he got a Christmas card and an engagement announcement — then asks him who his new love is! He doesn’t want to share yet, though, since it’s too new, so they talk about Philip and Gabi instead.
After some jokes about Bonnie’s new romance novel and her past with Lucas, Philip heads out.
Can Roman Cheer Marlena Up?
Roman, meanwhile, drops by Marlena’s with some soup for Christmas. It’s perfect timing as she’s about to — wait, no, she does break down and cry in his arms, thinking of John. When it dies down, Roman learns that Marlena’s there by herself, everyone else has left.
They sit to talk about how much Marlena’s struggling, but, as Roman points out, it’s the first Christmas without John and she needs to be patient with herself. So he takes her out on the town. She feels better just seeing the decorations in the square and thanks Roman for lifting her spirits.
He’s not done, though, and invites her over to the Pub, so they join Kate and Lucas… to talk about turning One Stormy Night into a movie. Which could be written by Will. (And hey, there’s always Johnny to direct, right? Lord, let’s just make sure they don’t do this in town like, well, you know.) Marlena’s visibly upset when they talk about Stephanie’s possible stalker and Steve having to try to figure out who it is on his own.
Rafe Tells Gabi About Stefan
Rafe finally gets home to Ari and Sophia, having missed most of Christmas to rescue the DiMeras. He breaks the news to Gabi that Stefan’s dead. Gabi’s in shock and doesn’t believe it — Peter and Vivian are not reliable. (Not no, Gabi, but still…)
Ari encourages her mom to consider that it’s true, and Rafe says the FBI is working to confirm it… and shows her a photo of Stefan’s tombstone, courtesy of Viv. His Jake’s heart finally gave out on him. That’s when Gabi lets herself believe it and rushes out of the house. Rafe admits to Ari that while he’s skeptical, he doesn’t see any benefit in Vivian lying about this. At least Gabi has Philip now — and they’ll support her!
Gabi looks like she’s in shock in the square when Philip rushes over, a bundle of cheer and excitement. He wants to hang out, but she tells him about Stefan. She wishes she didn’t care, but it feels like her whole world just fell apart.
In the Show’s Final Moments
The Johnson family dinner wraps up and Kayla hurries Steve out, giving a very happy Alex and Stephanie some time to themselves. They waste no time in reverting to their natural state: Making out and exchanging racy gifts. Out in the square, Steve and Kayla talk about going to China for Tripp and Wendy’s wedding, then share a Christmas kiss under the mistletoe.
Roman checks in with Marlena over by the bar. Hearing about Steve running Black Patch on his own was crushing. She breaks down in the Pub and Roman hugs her and promises he’ll always be there for her. Kate turns around, gives them a look and is visibly annoyed. (Really, Kate??)
Philip understands and tells Gabi he loves her and he’ll be there for her. She’s not ready to go home, so he invites her back to his place.
