Yes, that really was Wes Ramsey stepping back into the role of Peter on the episode of General Hospital which aired on Friday, January 23. (You can read a recap here.) And while Peter’s encounter with Anna was a seeming hallucination on her part, the actor himself did return to film the scenes… and happily so.

“It was a surprise, and it was also a pleasant surprise,” Ramsey told the folks at TVInsider. “Not something that I was anticipating, but certainly I was ready to step back into that world and do what I could to help out my old friends.”

Viewers will recall that Ramsey first took on the role in 2017 and last appeared when the character died (or so we believe) in 2022. Of course, we’d probably be wise to put “died” in quotes, given that the guy has perished more than once over the years!

His first “death” took place in 2021 after a struggle with Finn in the hospital stairwell. Finn had raced after Peter, who had been holding the antidote that would save Chase. When they reached the roof, Peter threw it over the edge, which infuriated Finn, who pushed him and watched as Peter tumbled down the stairs. When Elizabeth appeared, she helped Finn hide Peter’s body in a hospital freezer — only to find it empty later.

This time around, Ramsey jumped at the opportunity to work again with longtime scene partner Finola Hughes (Anna). “The greatest gift and the gift that keeps on giving is any time I ever have an opportunity to work alongside her,” he admitted to the outlet.

As for Ramsey, since leaving the ABC soap, he shared news in 2023 of a new project, “Having an adventure on location in the beautiful wilderness of Vermont. Doing what you love will always inspire gratitude for what remains still in this life.”

As for a future return, Ramsey says that he would welcome the opportunity. “I’m always game to come in and play with my friends,” he admits.
