For starters, Johnny has really been enjoying his time in the DiMera CEO seat, so he’s slowly inching closer to embracing his DiMera roots.

Kate Roberts Brady (Lauren Koslow) is setting Johnny up for catastrophe using Bonnie Kiriakis’ (Judi Evans) manuscript, but that betrayal may only fuel Johnny’s vengeful side.

It’s easy to see the potential for all this to turn Johnny into a colder and harsher DiMera – much like his father!

Will Chanel call Johnny out for basically becoming EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) in the months to come?

That could certainly lead to a marriage disaster for these two.

2) Sophia targets Chanel and Johnny’s family

Viewers also can’t forget how much Sophia Choi (Rachel Boyd) loathes Chanel and Johnny.

Sophia doesn’t approve of Johnny and Chanel being adoptive parents to her son, so she won’t rest until she blows up their family with Trey DiMera (Joseph Ihlenf and Jordan Perdue).

Sophia’s going to wreak havoc with her continued escapes and launch a crisis for Chanel as well as Johnny, so that’ll force more stress in their relationship.

3) Potential baby loss hits hard

Of course, all the stress could catch up with Chanel and put her unborn child in jeopardy.

Chanel was thrilled to get some positive pregnancy updates recently, but she could face devastation down the road.

Days spoilers suggest a tragedy is in Johnny and Chanel’s future, so it’s possible a baby loss will hit hard and affect their marriage in a big way.

It’s clear that the show’s going to put Chanel and Johnny’s relationship to the test, so what does that mean for their future as a couple?

It’s possible a romantic split is brewing along with a messy Trey custody situation.

That said, a lot can happen between now and late 2026 or early 2027.

By the time Johnny and Chanel are ready to depart, they may work through their issues and leave town as a family.

It honestly makes the most sense for Days to take that route with Chanel and Johnny since they’re both leaving anyway.
