On Thursday’s #Days, Chanel visits Sophia, Chad and Jennifer hash things out and Johnny takes Bonnie’s manuscript. Chanel’s Visit Has Unintended Consequences, and Sophia Manages to Scare Melinda
Holly’s a bundle of stress thanks to sorority rush, which is a bit of a surprise to Ari. Everyone loves her. Except for slap-happy Sophia. But before Ari can defend their catatonic “friend,” Gabi shows up with Gabi Chic dresses and some encouragement that rush is a part of the college experience.
Then she drops the boom that she knows about her daughter’s fake ID. She found it yesterday, and was going to ground her… but knows it’ll be pointless. Ari’s in college, Gabi did the same thing in college, and she just wants Ari to be smart and careful.
Is the Custody Fight Over?
Chad, Melinda, Justin and Jennifer finish signing the custody arrangement. (Jack already signed, which is good, because he’s not there.) Melinda pulls Chad aside to reiterate that this is a bad idea. It’ll tie him to the whims of a “mercurial ten-year old” (And his mercurial grandparents) but Chad’s doing this.
After all is said and done, Jennifer insists they can repair their relationship, thanks to their love for his kids. (Chad’s a bigger person than, well, a lot of us.) Jennifer and Chad then both lament that they don’t know where Abigail’s remains actually ended up. But at least they found Stefano’s. Knowing he’s well and truly gone is liberating for Chad. Then Chad mentions he’s nervous about the future because Thomas is going to be a teenager soon. (Is this a SORAS preview?)
Johnny Makes Bonnie’s Day
Johnny heads over to the Kiriakis mansion to have a chat with Bonnie about her novel. She literally leaps out of the chair to throw her arms around him when he says he’d like to read it. Romance novels are big money, so she’s gonna do great things for DiMera.
Justin gets home to the good news (and Bonnie showing off fuzzy pink handcuffs for “marketing”), then, after Johnny leaves, admits DiMera’s a better option for publishing.
Chanel Makes a Big Mistake With Sophia
Sophia settles into her no speaking shtick as Chanel drops by for a visit to say she’s just so grateful that she gave her baby up. And Chanel wants to share pictures! (Um, Chanel, you know she never wanted you to have the kid, right?)
They flip through some, then Sophia watches very intently as Chanel takes something to calm her stomach, while holding it in a way that makes it clear she’s pregnant. As people do… In soaps. Sophia stops engaging and Chanel apologizes for all the trouble they caused with the adoption, says she’d like Sophia to be a part of Trey’s life when she gets out, then leaves.
Back home, Chanel fills Johnny in on the visit — he’s not feeling as kind towards Sophia as Chanel. But she points out that for better or worse, she’s Trey’s mother and she’ll be out eventually.
Sophia Breaks Her Silence
After Chanel’s gone, Sophia texts Melinda to come over — then shocks her by opening her mouth and admitting she’s been faking being mute for ages. She wants everyone to underestimate her because she’s got plans. Big plans. Sophia, you are reading Melinda all wrong!
She pushes forward, telling Melinda that Chanel’s pregnant and now that they’ll have their own kid, they don’t deserve hers. She wants her baby taken away and given to someone else. “You mean through LEGAL channels,” Melinda insists. But no. Sophia doesn’t care if it’s legal or not.
In the Show’s Final Moments
Johnny fills Chanel in on his day, and tells her that the crypt remains were his grandfather’s. She’s sympathetic, but warns against reaching out to EJ.
Melinda tries getting through to Sophia, but she doesn’t want to listen or get back to her life. “I want a new life, a better one.” But once it’s clear that Melinda isn’t onboard, Sophia flips a switch and claims she gets it. Before leaving, Melinda thanks her for keeping her name out of the whole fake adoption thing. Sophia’s happy to. After all, she can’t tell anyone if no one knows she can talk…
