Coronation Street fans wowed as Sydney Martin unveils very different new look
Coronation Street’s Sydney Martin has unveiled a new look – and she doesn’t look like her soap character anymore!
Sydney, who is 24, has played the role of Betsy Swain in the ITV soap since 2024.
The troubled teenager is the daughter of DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) and Becky Swain (Amy Cudden).
Despite only being part of the show for a couple of years, Sydney is hugely loved by fans and now has over 65,000 followers on her Instagram.
On her page, Sydney decided to share with everyone that she’s undergone quite the transformation. Posting a small transition clip, Sydney confirms to her followers that her iconic blonde hair is gone, and she is now sporting a dark brown look.
Sydney received plenty of lovely comments on the post, and it’s safe to say everyone is loving her new do.
‘Omgggg I love it! You look stunning’, one fan said.
Another wrote: ‘OMG you look so beautiful syd’.
Sydney’s on-screen mum Vicky Myers added: ‘Love it! You’re beautiful’, while Cait Fitton (Lauren Bolton) wrote: ‘Aghhh!!! I cannot cope with, you look unreal bestie.’
Betsy Swain arrived in Weatherfield at a time when she was struggling to come to terms with the apparent death of her mum Becky.
It took her a little while, but Betsy eventually warmed to Lisa’s new girlfriend Carla Connor (Alison King).
The trio now live at Number 6 Coronation Street alongside Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) and baby Connie, who is the daughter of Carla’s brother Rob.
Next month, Betsy will make a shocking discovery and find a dead body in Weatherfield.
This storyline was teased in February, when Betsy featured in a flashforward. We saw the terrified teen getting questioned in a police interview room, but all she said was that she had found a body.
The possible victims were then revealed to be Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown), Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn), Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) and Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon).
A number of residents have reason to want to see the back of these five people, but which one will Betsy find?
