For years, General Hospital has had Sonny lean on Diane to get him and his family out of countless legal quagmires, from charges of racketeering to attempted murder. But, although the legal eagle has worked miracles for the mobster, it would seem that her services are no longer needed… or at least they’re about to be needed less.

In the sneak-preview video that ABC’s soap released ahead of Tuesday’s episode (watch below), the Teflon don calls his go-to attorney to his place. The reason? From what we can glean from the quick clip, he’s letting her know that, now that he and half brother Ric have kissed and made up, the rival lawyer will be handling some, if not all, of those sensitive Corinthos Coffee matters.

“Am I… fired?” Diane asks. Yeah, it’s that dire.

But even if Sonny is giving the chop to his family’s longtime protector, it’s surely not the end of Carolyn Hennesy’s run on the show. The actress made her debut as Diane 20 years ago, and ever since, has established herself as a reliable sidekick for Nancy Lee Grahn’s Alexis. (The characters even have their own law firm.)
