SHOCKING NEWS !!! Coronation Street issues sad Eileen Grimshaw update after exit and fans are heartbroken
Coronation Street have provided an update on Eileen Grimshaw just two months following her departure.
Eileen (Sue Cleaver) initially arrived on the cobbles in 2000, alongside the remainder of the Grimshaw family, including sons Jason (Ryan Thomas) and Todd (Bruno Langley: Gareth Pierce) who appeared several months afterwards.
It wasn’t long before Eileen became embroiled in numerous major storylines. From her disputes on the street to her marriage to serial criminal mastermind Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre), her stint in Weatherfield was certainly eventful.
Earlier this year however, it was confirmed that Sue was departing the programme following 25 years portraying Eileen. The actress subsequently revealed she wished to explore other opportunities.

In June, Eileen’s final departure scenes were broadcast following a turbulent period for the character which saw her questioned regarding the death of sister Julie (Katy Cavanagh), reports the Daily Star.
Seeking a fresh beginning, Eileen ultimately left the cobbles, and her partner George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley), for a new existence in Thailand alongside Jason – who made his return after nine years.

Nevertheless, in Monday’s episode (August 2) the soap provided a significant update concerning Eileen.
Having heard nothing from her for months, George was taken aback when he received a text from Eileen which stated: “Sorry I’ve not been in touch, it’s been full on here. Hope you are ok? Love Eyelash x.”
In the midst of a budding romance with Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins), George made the decision to delete the message, sparking immediate reactions from the soap’s fans.

The soap issued an update
One disappointed viewer posted on a Corrie Facebook fan page: “Was half hoping George would reply to Eileen and she would come back!” Another added: “Same I’d rather have George with Eileen than Christina!” A third commented: “That must be it for him and Eileen then,” accompanied by a broken heart emoji.
Eileen’s actress Sue spoke about her decision to leave the soap during an appearance on Loose Women in January.
She stated; “I have decided after 25 wonderful years that it is time to hang Eileen back up in the prop cupboard. I’ve decided it’s time to leave, they’re keeping the door firmly open for me. It’s just the right time!”.

Later, on This Morning, she said: “I’m leaving now – I’m 61 and this is what my new book is all about. I think we get to an age where society wants us just to shuffle off quietly and I really want to encourage other women that we have so much more to give.”
