Appearing on ITV’s This Morning to promote his new series Fletchers’ Family Farm, Fletcher faced a direct question from host Alison Hammond about whether Andy might soon return to the Dales.

“There are rumours that your character might be coming back,” Hammond said. Fletcher laughed, replying, “There always seems to be those rumours.”

A Fond Farewell, Not a Comeback

The actor praised the current state of the soap, saying, “Emmerdale’s in a fantastic place at the minute. We’re fans of the show, and it’s always different now to watch the show that I was in for 20 years.”

But any hope of a surprise comeback quickly faded when Fletcher admitted that a return seems unlikely. “I had some amazing memories there,” he said, “but I think I’d be too busy. I don’t think I can stand that two-hour commute, first and foremost.”
