#BoldAndBeautiful’s John McCook and Thorsten Kaye tell all about the Eric/Ridge ceasefire — and what it means for the show going forward. John McCook and Thorsten Kaye Preview the End of Eric and Ridge’s Family Feud
The writing was on the wall the moment The Bold and the Beautiful had Eric start to experience the occasional shortness of breath while working as Logan’s lead designer. And by the time he admitted that he wished he was back at Forrester Creations — and Donna told him that he couldn’t keep working for Katie — we could all see where the patriarch’s storyline was leading: away from the fashion wars and back to the company that he founded.
Eric and Ridge Kiss and Make Up
As the week progresses, John McCook tells Soaps.com, “it evolves to Ridge and Eric having talks and apologizing to one another for what’s happened and making arrangements for Eric to return. He’s not going to come back just like that, though; they have to do it on his terms.
“Ridge agrees to that, and we’re back to the old thing,” the Emmy winner continues. “Frankly, I loved the conflicts… and the idea of where we were going, but they turned the page very quickly.” Indeed, they did. In our heads, we were playing “We’ve Only Just Begun” when the powers that be cued up, “End of the Road.”

Eric + Ridge Always = Good Story
Whether the characters are at each other’s throats or in one another’s arms, Thorsten Kaye is all for it. “Any time you play the dynamic between Eric and Ridge, it’s automatically relatable to the audience. We’re all father and sons,” he says, adding, “Ridge hasn’t always necessarily treated his dad the best — I mean, let’s not look too closely at the whole Brooke thing, right?
“But I try to make sure that there is never any doubt, no matter what’s on the page, that Ridge loves him. Any story I get to do with John is better. I know actors love to say ‘I could do this with anyone’ and ‘It’s a craft,’ but that’s bull. You do better work when you’re working with people you love. And I love that man dearly.”
