CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? Paddy’s exit ‘confirmed’ after 29 years in Emmerdale ITVX release as the police have him

The following article contains spoilers from the episode of Emmerdale dated March 17. It hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX.

Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) is spending the night in prison in Emmerdale, but whether he returns home is another thing entirely.

Yesterday, Paddy’s dad Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) was questioned once again about the day he killed Ray Walters (Joe Absolom). Ever since the investigation began, DS Walsh (Amanda Ryan) has been convinced Bear didn’t act alone, but he’s refused to tell her that Paddy and Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle) disposed of Ray’s body.

Bear was caught out though when Walsh asked him to tie a specific knot that was used to hide Ray. Bear tried and tried, but wasn’t able to guess the correct one. In an attempt to protect Paddy, Bear suddenly told Walsh that he did intend to kill Ray after all.

Zara, Bear’s solicitor, headed to the village afterwards and told Paddy, Dylan and Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) that the confession means there’s now a very high chance of Bear going to prison for the rest of his life.

Paddy was absolutely distraught in today’s episode, as he wondered what he could do to save his dad from prison. It broke his heart to admit it, but it really felt like the only option was to tell Walsh that he had lied about where he was when Ray was killed.

But he wasn’t going to go alone. Dylan told Paddy that he will go with him to the police station to confess as well. Paddy hated the thought of 18-year-old Dylan having his future ripped away from him after such a traumatic childhood, but the young man had made up his mind.

In the police interview room, Walsh listened as Paddy and Dylan separately told her about their involvement in Ray’s murder. Paddy even showed Walsh the knot that he tied to wrap the body up.

Paddy and Dylan were read the riot act and then charged with perverting the course of justice.

Walsh explained to the pair of them that they won’t be going home anytime soon, so what’s next for Paddy, Dylan and Bear?

Are the three of them about to go to prison?

The only shred of hope the family have at home is that Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) saw Ray before he went and violently confronted Dylan.

In upcoming episodes, the likes of Mandy and Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) will realise that if Laurel tells the police about Ray’s state of mind prior to his death, it could allow the trio to claim that the situation unfolded in an act of self defence.

Is it enough to stop them from spending time behind bars?
