After winning over viewers with her sharp wit and mischievous charm, Amy Robbins has officially signed a new contract to become a series regular on Coronation Street.

Amy, who first appeared in January 2023 for a brief guest role as Christina Boyd, mother to Daisy Midgeley, was initially meant for a short stint. But her standout performances have earned her a permanent place on the cobbles.

According to The Sun, producers were quick to secure the actress after her return this year proved a hit with fans. A source revealed: “Amy is classic Corrie. She’s impressed bosses with how she’s slotted into the cobbles effortlessly. It was a no-brainer to offer her a new contract. Christina is shaping up to be one of Corrie’s classic women, and there’s plenty to come as she and George grow closer.”

Christina’s Drama-Filled Return

Christina’s comeback has already stirred plenty of trouble. Since reappearing in Weatherfield, she’s clashed with former landlady Jenny Connor and sparked chemistry with George Shuttleworth, the local funeral director.

Her fiery personality and cutting one-liners have quickly made her a fan favourite, setting her up as one of the soap’s newest scene-stealers. As her romance with George deepens, producers have hinted that there’s “lots more to come” for Christina in the months ahead.

Amy’s promotion comes during a period of major cast shake-ups on Coronation Street. Charlotte Jordan, who played Daisy Midgeley, has departed, while Sally Ann Matthews, who portrayed Jenny Connor, has also exited.
