Coronation Street heartbreak ahead as David and Shona clash over their baby

Coronation Street’s David and Shona Platt will face even more heartbreak next week as they continue to clash over their unborn baby. With Shona determined to stay positive amid the difficult situation, David’s frustrations grow.

The Platts were overjoyed earlier this year when they discovered that they were going to have a child together. But their happiness was short-lived after a terrifying scan, which revealed a potentially cancerous tumour on their unborn baby.

The couple were told that Shona would have to undergo a high-risk operation if she wanted to continue the pregnancy – a decision that they struggled to agree on. While David feared for his wife’s safety, Shona was adamant on prioritising their baby’s health.

Later, Shona was furious when David revealed the truth about the scan to his shocked family, as she wasn’t ready to share the news yet.

Next week, their conflict will escalate as Shona barrels forward with another celebratory event, despite the circumstances.

When David returns home he is surprised to see the living room filled with party guests, decorations and baby-themed games. Shona explains that they’re throwing a baby shower to celebrate their little girl.

Already concerned about Shona’s reaction to the scan results, David struggles to hide his unease. The hairdresser questions if they should be throwing a party while knowing that their baby’s health is at high risk.

Shona is once again left disappointed as the mood drops in the room and her guests mill around awkwardly. With the couple still not seeing eye-to-eye about the pregnancy, will they ever be able to resolve their differences?

These scenes air on Friday 12 December.
