CORONATION STREET SHOCKER! Maggie’s Dark Secret EXPLODES After a Sudden Death — Did She Hide the Truth All Along?! 😱⚰️
Coronation Street matriarch, Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn) has proved to be quite the treasure trove of secrets, hasn’t she?
Not only is the acid-tongued landlady of the Rover’s Return a murderer, having dispatched of her husband, Alan, by pushing him down the stairs, she’s also been lying to her son, Ben (Aaron McCusker), about his true parentage for his entire life.
It turns out that Ben and his newly discovered BFF, Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson), have so much more in common than either could’ve ever imagined, namely – a dad, Jim McDonald (Charles Lawson).
When fans clocked Maggie’s obvious discomfort with the growing bond between Steve and Ben, they instantly began to theorise over what was going on, with many suspecting that Corrie bosses could be resurrecting the ‘secret sibling’ trope, and, according to Radio Times, they’re bang on the money!
Poor Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine). He’s gonna be super jealous when he learns of this!

Next week sees the funeral of Jim roll around and, looking for extra support, Steve asks Ben if he’ll attend, much to the chagrin of newly-cast third wheel, Tim, his jealousy compounded when Ben agrees, despite never having met Jim, determined to be there for his new buddy.
When Ben informs his family of his decision, he’s met with support – from everybody besides Maggie. Her steely veneer faltering, she spits venom at the idea, though Ben is undeterred and heads off with Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) to see Steve off.
Finding Steve outside no.1, flanked by girlfriend Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) and daughter, Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney), Ben and Eva wait alongside him as the funeral car approaches. As Steve heads off to say his final goodbye to Jim, Ben’s completely unaware of Maggie’s glare burning a hole through him.

As the funeral party heads back to the Rover’s for the wake, they’re joined by Declan and Davey, two former comrades of Jim, armed with plenty of warm stories about him from their days in the arm, with Steve emotional as they remember his dad together.
Shifting uncomfortably, Maggie desperately attempts to break Ben away from the gathering, reminding him of his hospital appointment the next morning.
It’s no use, though, as Ben rises late the next morning, suffering with a monster hangover.
As Eva and Maggie voice their disapproval, Ben races to the hospital for his ECG, he returns sheepish, having missed the appointment. A furious Maggie lets loose with the vitriol in the bar, forcing Eva to remind her that while Jim’s funeral must’ve stirred up memories of losing Alan, she can’t take it out on the punters.
Faced with the very real possibility that her secret is in real danger of being exposed, will Maggie’s erratic behaviour give the game up?
