Coronation Street to kick off Sally’s emotional Christmas plot – as she makes a big mistake

Coronation Street will kick off an emotional plot at the Metcalfe house next week, as Sally and Tim try to create some Christmas magic for the Michaelis kids. But things go awry when Sally makes a big mistake with upsetting consequences.

Will she be able to salvage their festive plans?

The Metcalfes kindly opened their home to Joanie, Shanice and Brody this year after their parents Mick and Lou Michaelis were both arrested. Though they’ve made some errors along the way, Sally and Tim have proven themselves to be caring and supportive foster parents.

This autumn, the couple had to make a difficult decision when they noticed Shanice being abusive towards her little sister. After a visit from social services, Shanice was sent to stay with her auntie for a while.

In next week’s episodes, Sally and Tim try to make Shanice feel welcome, following her recent return to the street. When the child shares that she’s invited some friends over for a Christmas party, the Metcalfes put on an impressive buffet spread.

The couple decide to give the Michaelis kids a wonderful Christmas after their traumatic year, and Sally later promises that she’ll arrange a visit with their mum on the big day.

Joanie and Shanice are delighted by the thought of seeing Lou, but Tim tries to manage their expectations. He tells Sally that she should’ve checked with the prison first and fears the girls will be left disappointed if they’re not allowed to visit.

Could Sally’s kind idea accidentally ruin Christmas for her foster children? Or will she be able to rustle up another special plan to save the day?

These scenes air on Wednesday 10 December and Friday 12 December.
