Coronation Street’s Carla and Lisa declare their love but heartbreak ends them

Carla Connor (Alison King) and Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) have broken not only each other’s hearts, but the hearts of Coronation Street fans across the nation.

Though we all thought they were endgame, things came to a devastating end for the beloved couple in recent scenes, as Becky Swain (Amy Cudden) finally succeeded in driving them apart.

Since her return from the dead earlier this year, Becky has made it her mission to win back Lisa, though it has been a more difficult task than she expected.

Over the course of her relationship with Carla, Lisa had managed to come to terms with her grief and was ready to move on from Becky.

So, naturally, her emotions were all over the place when Becky returned and revealed that she hadn’t been killed in a hit and run, but had been living in Spain under a new identity after an undercover operation went wrong.

Her presence caused tension between Carla and Lisa, with Carla growing increasingly frustrated that Lisa couldn’t see that Becky was actively trying to come between them.

Eventually, it all became too much for Carla, and she cut things off with her fiancée for good.

In upcoming scenes, it becomes clear to Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) that Carla is not coping with the break-up well.

Concerned, he tells Becky that Carla has been knocking back scotch in the factory and urges her to persuade Lisa to talk to her.

Becky promises that she will pass on the message, but later it isn’t Lisa that walks in on Carla downing another drink, but Becky herself…

Later in the week, Carla heads to No.6 to talk to Lisa, where she admits that leaving had been a mistake.

Explaining that she has come home, Carla admits that she never stopped loving Lisa.

Lisa returns the sentiment, confessing that she loves her too, but heartbreak follows as she tells Carla that it is too late.

As Lisa declares that it is over between them, Carla is left devastated.

Is this really the end for Carla and Lisa?

Elsewhere, Kit grows more suspicious about the situation regarding Becky and Costello (Daon Broni) when he learns from Costello’s wife that he planned to retire to the Lakes in September.

As Lisa agrees that it was odd their boss never mentioned it, Kit clocks Becky’s discomfort.

Kit soon turns to Carla with his suspicions that Becky and Costello are in it together, but despondent Carla points out that they have no proof. Determined to find some, Kit goes digging.

When Costello’s wife comes to the station to pick up her husband’s personal effects, she shows Kit a picture of the house they bought in Coniston, and he notes that it is called Ravensgill.

After some research, Kit leaves a message for Carla to let her know that the house had been bought by a company set up exactly a week after Becky was said to have died.

Is he onto something, and could it be enough to get Becky out of Carla and Lisa’s lives for good?
