Coronation Street’s Dee-Dee gets a chilling warning – as her exit plot is confirmed

Coronation Street confirms the details of Dee-Dee Bailey’s exit storyline tonight, as she confides in Alya Nazir with her life-changing plans. Dee-Dee’s loved ones have noticed that she’s acting strangely recently, but all becomes clear when she opens up to her friend.

Dee-Dee shocked Weatherfield newcomer Ollie Driscoll by abruptly ending their relationship earlier this week. While Ollie believed that things were going well, and even wanted to spend Christmas with his girlfriend, Dee-Dee gently let him know that they weren’t on the same page.

In tonight’s scenes, a shellshocked Ollie continues to confide in his loved ones about his unexpected romantic setback. His grandmother Maggie has plenty to say about it – and offers to have a word with Dee-Dee.

Cornering Dee-Dee and Alya at Speed Daal, Maggie shows her sinister side once again as she issues a stern warning. Although Dee-Dee’s well within her rights to break ties with Ollie, it seems that Maggie has other ideas…

“Let me say this – no-one messes my boys around and gets away with it,” Maggie warns. “Do you hear me?”

This isn’t the first time that Maggie has shown a ruthless edge – she was remarkably casual about Tracy McDonald’s murderous history last month – so it looks like she’s one to watch ahead of her special episode next week.

Later, once alone with Alya again, Dee-Dee shares her real reasons for cutting ties with Ollie. But it’s not just Ollie she’ll be saying goodbye to…

“I’ve been approached by a company in Singapore,” Dee-Dee explains. “It’s the other side of the world, but the salary is more than anything I’d get at a similar size company in Europe.

“And more importantly, the hours – it means I’ll actually get to spend quality time with Laila.”

Channique Sterling-Brown, who plays Dee-Dee, filmed her final scenes at Coronation Street a few weeks ago and we’ll see her exit episode soon.

Speaking to us recently, she explained: “I made the decision in spring, and it wasn’t a rash decision. I really took a couple of months from being offered my next year contract to actually even respond. I felt really torn, but I really just had the sense that it just felt like the time.

“I feel like I’ve been so privileged, and I’ve got to tell some great stories, and it’s been so wonderful. And obviously I’m very led by my faith as well. So I just really took my time over it and prayed into it.

“I found a real sense that I had done what I’d come to do, if that makes sense, not that I ever knew exactly what it was, but it just felt like I had achieved what I was sent here to do, so it was time to be brave.”
