Coronation Street star Sydney Martin has joked ‘mum says no’ as she revealed her co-star’s response to her public question about her character’s future relationship on the cobbles.
Fans will best know the actress for playing Betsy Swain in the ITV soap. Sydney made her debut in the role of DS Lisa Swain’s daughter last summer, marking her first-ever role on the small screen.
Originally seen as being Sabrina Adetiba’s mate, it was soon revealed that the teen was the daughter of long-standing character Lisa, with Vicky Myers only becoming a regular in the role earlier in 2024.
But back to now and spoilers for what’s to come on the cobbles have revealed that sparks are set to fly between teens Betsy and Dylan Wilson.
As fans of the long-running show will recall, the two young characters actually first gave into their feelings six months ago. They shared a close bond already but the tragic death of Mason Radcliffe only brought the grieving pair together.
And it was as Dylan is awaiting his fate, having been charged with possessing the knife that Matty and Logan Radcliffe used to kill their brother, that things became romantic between the pair as they shared a kiss.

But it now looks like the pair are set to grow closer once again, despite it being hinted that Betsy ends up in an accident. Last month, Corrie gave viewers a sneak peek at some of the sizzling storylines coming up on the cobbles in September.
Within the trailer, a distracted Betsy Swain, who is on the phone, is blindsided when a car quickly approaches behind her, driven by Brody Michaelis and Dylan Wilson, who have been enlisted in a car-stealing scheme by Carl Webster.
However, for Betsy and Dylan, actress Sydney has been teasing fans as she was asked about her character’s love life, revealing whether she thought Betsy would be more likely to fall for Dylan or for Brody.

Alongside a snippet of the interview in which she was asked the big question, Sydney wrote on Instagram: “Who would you like to see Betsy with?” before starting a poll for fans to cast their verdicts.

However, Sydney may not have been expecting her on-screen mum, actress Vicky Myers, to get involved as she shared a screenshot of the message she received from her co-star which simply read: “Neither!”
Sydney went to respond to the post with crying and crying laughing emojis before sharing the screenshot to her Instagram Story and writing: “Mum says no boys allowed.”
The post made its way over to X (formerly known as Twitter) as fans saw the funny side. @carlasbarlow said: “Giggling at this.” @pupsi_em_ replied: “They are toooooo funny.” @kerrym3101 posted: “The correct answer too!!” @NiamhBonne12727 added: “Haha she’s so funny I love her.”
