A spokesperson for the Dorset Police confirmed the incident “involved a rock climber who fell off the cliff”.
They added: “The ambulance and coastguard were in attendance, and the person was taken off to hospital by the time we got to the incident.”
Their condition remains unknown.
It follows a deadly incident earlier in the year in Portland.
A man in his 70s tragically died in a windsurfing accident when he was blown out of the water and hit a moored yacht during strong winds.
A second person was also treated by paramedics after the accident in Portland Harbour.
