DALES DEPARTURE Emmerdale hunk makes soap return as he joins Hollyoaks for controversial police storyline

AN EMMERDALE actor whose character was killed off in dramatic fashion as part of a gritty Christmas Day storyline has now switched to star in Hollyoaks.

The soap favourite, who departed the Dales back in 2012, will now star in a prominent role in the Channel 4 series as part of a new police storyline.

Previously, we told how ITV actor Kurtis Stacey looked unrecognisable 15 years after his stint as Alex Moss in Emmerdale.

He played the hunky farmer between 2011 and 2012.

Now he is part of a gritty new Hollyoaks storyline, after having had two other minor roles in the soap in the past.

He will now play a dodgy new police officer who is part of the ongoing storyline involving undercover detective Connor “Sully” Sullivan.

Kurtis plays new character Smithy who is set to ruffle feathers among a number of the locals with his misogynistic comments and dodgy remarks.

The character has already celebrated his birthday in the Cheshire-based show – and fans have clocked his former soap history.

One took to Reddit to write: “Smithy, the new Police Officer. I wondered where I recognised him and I realised he’s played by Kurtis Stacey, who played Alex Moss in Emmerdale.”

Recently, after his Hollyoaks comeback was aired, Kurtis took to his page on X and teased much more was to come.

He put: “Had a little cameo in @Hollyoaks recently might catch a few more glimpses of me as a local copper.”

Previously, he was seen on the soap in minor roles, playing a customer at The Loft who fought with Ste Hay in 2011.

He also played a different police officer for two stints in 2024 before returning to the law enforcement role last month.

DALES DRAMA

In 2011, Kurtis’ Emmerdale character Alex worked at Butlers Farm under John Barto, portrayed by James Thornton.

But it all came to an unexpected end when he was shockingly killed off on Christmas Eve at the hands of murderer Cameron Murray (Dominic Power).

Since his soap stint, he has toured the country with pantomimes and competed in a celebrity edition of Mastermind.

The ripped star also fills his socials with shirtless pictures, which ensure to leave the ladies swooning.

Posting to Twitter, Kurtis said of his fitness journey: “We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of disappointment.

“If you want it you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.”

He writes a column for BestFit Magazine and plugs brands MyProtein and Liverpool gyms online.

He wrote in the publication: “I myself have a collection of self-help and psychology books which I like to refer to when I’m feeling stressed or anxious.

“If you’re having an off day, you’re feeling a bit depressed, tired or simply can’t be bothered – you can refer to your Mental Wealth toolbox and overcome any obstacle to get you through whatever is in your way.”
