Dev lashes out at Naomi after Asha’s suicide attempt—but will going public help or hurt her healing? 💔 The fallout is massive.
Asha’s Breaking Point
Coronation Street has taken a heartbreaking turn with Asha Alahan’s (Tanisha Gorey) shocking suicide attempt, following weeks of trauma both at work and in her personal life. The trainee paramedic had been struggling to cope after witnessing multiple deaths — and becoming the victim of a vicious racist attack by Naomi (Melissa Batchelor), a woman she was trying to help.
When Naomi reappeared at a careers fair, Asha’s friend Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) tried to expose her publicly as a racist. But the stunt backfired, leading Naomi to threaten legal action unless Asha withdrew her police complaint. Feeling trapped, humiliated, and hopeless, Asha took an overdose.
Dev’s Desperation Turns to Anger
Asha’s father Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) has been left devastated by his daughter’s attempt to end her life. Though determined to help her heal, Dev feels powerless and out of his depth. His heartbreak soon turns into anger — anger at Naomi for driving Asha to despair, and anger at himself for not seeing the signs sooner.
When Asha returns home from hospital, tensions are high. She insists she’s fine and snaps at Dev, pushing him away just when he’s desperate to protect her. Meanwhile, Bernie and Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) start plotting their own revenge on Naomi, convinced she needs to be held accountable before she hurts anyone else.
Bernie and Gemma’s Dangerous Plan
After learning from Kit (Jacob Roberts) that Naomi has a record of violent behaviour, Bernie and Gemma devise a risky scheme: provoke Naomi in public and film her losing her temper.
At the Bistro, Gemma sits near Naomi and begins taunting her while Bernie secretly records the encounter. As the insults fly, Naomi quickly takes the bait, and the confrontation escalates fast.
Fortunately, Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) gets wind of the plan and alerts Dev, who rushes over from the kebab shop — leaving Abi (Sally Carman) in charge — just in time to stop the situation spiralling completely out of control.
The Fallout Goes Viral
Although Dev and Kit manage to defuse the scene before violence breaks out, it’s too late — the video of Naomi’s angry outburst hits social media within hours. When Asha sees it, she’s horrified. Instead of feeling supported, she’s crushed that her father and friends have turned her trauma into a public spectacle.
Even worse, the video reaches her twin brother Aadi (Adam Hussain) in India, who learns about Asha’s suicide attempt for the first time through the clip. The fallout leaves the Alahan family more fractured than ever.
Can Dev Make Things Right?
As guilt and regret consume him, Dev must now repair the damage his actions — and Bernie’s well-intentioned but reckless plan — have caused. With Asha’s trust shattered and her mental health still fragile, it’s unclear if the family can heal or if their efforts to seek justice have only made her pain worse.
Coronation Street will continue to explore the emotional aftermath of Asha’s attempt and the consequences of Dev’s impulsive decisions in the coming episodes.
