Diane comes knockin’ when the boat’s a rockin’… and that’s just the tip of the iceberg! Young & Restless’ Peter Bergman Teases Repercussions From Jack/Patty Encounter ‘For Years to Come’

Dazed and confused or not, Young & Restless’ Jack Abbot is about to be busted by his wife with another woman, and the consequences are gonna be swift… and long-lasting.

As we all saw in the preview for next week, Diane’s about to take a water taxi to hell. Jack, under the influence of whatever substance Victor had added to the alcohol on the yacht, has found himself engaging in fuzzy foreplay with none other than Crazy Patty Williams, who claims to be not-so-cuckoo anymore.

Whether Patty is sane or not remains uncertain, but there’s no question about her seduction skills. Jack’s finding himself utterly unable to resist, and it’s safe to assume they’ll do the deed before Diane can show up to put a stop to it. But show up she will… and oh man, we wouldn’t want to be in Jack’s shoes when she does. For that matter, Jack won’t even be in his shoes… and therein lies the rub.

Patty’s bound to be delighted when Diane walks in on her and Jack in bed, given that it was she who walked in on Diane and Jack all those decades ago. Soap karma, if you will! Diane, meanwhile, will be horrified… and furious. We can’t imagine how she’ll even process the sight of Jack all over the madwoman who shot him repeatedly, but as Peter Bergaman warned Soap Opera Digest, the shocking reveal will have repercussions “for years to come.”

We’re not even going to entertain the idea that Patty might come up pregnant, so we’re going to go ahead and assume that Bergman’s referring to Jack’s happy life being turned upside-down by Diane, who will view this as a massive betrayal. It’s worth nothing that she’s not only his wife, but also a huge part of Jabot, so the consequences could, indeed, be far-reaching and dire.

Let’s not forget that Jack and Patty appeared to have been drugged via the alcohol they consumed, so he’s been pushed off the wagon. That adds a precarious element to the situation should Diane dump him.

While Victor may not have succeeded in using Jack to get Chancellor and Newman Enterprises back, he’ll at least have the satisfaction of seeing his nemesis’ marriage fall apart and, perhaps, his downfall as his addiction get the better of him. The Mustache may have the last laugh in that respect, which would only add to the downward trajectory of Jack’s spiral.

Finally, with Stacy Haiduk teasing Patty being back in Genoa City, we’re sure Jack won’t have seen the last of her either, which will add extra conflict and stress… but as we always say, “Bring on the mess!”
