Tonight’s Coronation Street ended on a cliffhanger after Becky Swain sent a text that could point to danger for DI Costello, who previously helped Becky to fake her own death by falsely identifying another dead woman, who he had killed.

Since Becky’s return to Weatherfield, the dodgy cop has been determined to send Becky back to Alicante and has even threatened Becky’s life if she refused to leave town.

In tonight’s episode, Becky fought fire with fire after receiving a threat in the form of a funeral wreath with a message that read: ‘Rest in Peace – Again!’

Becky met with Costello, telling him that whoever sent the wreath meant business and that she was going to get to the bottom of it. Costello swore he had nothing to do with the wreath, but told her: “The longer you stay here, the more you’re putting your life and your daughter’s life in danger.”

In the precinct, Becky was seen taking photos of a group of teenage girls. As Kit arrived for his promotion interview at the station, Costello opened a message and was shaken to see a picture of his daughter.

When Kit left, Costello took a call from Becky who told him she knew he had sent the wreath and if he tried anything else, his daughter would suffer. Outside the office, Kit listened in.

After Costello threatened Becky, saying she knew what he was capable of, Becky replied: “I’m also backed into a corner here, and I’m telling you now – if you even think about coming after me or my family again, you’ll regret it.”

Later, Becky turned up on the Street in tears, telling Betsy, Lisa and Carla that she had no idea who sent the wreath and that everything was getting on top of her.

Betsy begged Lisa and Carla to let Becky stay with them until she could move back to Spain and Carla reluctantly agreed.

As the episode came to an end, Becky sent a text message to someone that read: “I’ve got a job for you. It’ll be dead fun. Plenty of ££££.”

Spoilers have already revealed that Costello ends up in hospital later this week, so it would appear that Becky is responsible for arranging the attack on him.
