Emmerdale to air longest ever Cain and Moira scene as two stories collide
Emmerdale is set to air Cain and Moira Dingle’s longest ever scene, as their two major stories collide. Next week will see Cain learn that he has prostate cancer, with a special episode set to focus on his inner perspective amid the news.
At the same time, the couple are wrongfully arrested when two bodies are found buried at Butler’s Farm, with Moira subsequently charged with the murders of Celia Daniels and Anya.
Cain actor Jeff Hordley has admitted to Digital Spy and other press that the pair are in “total shock” and that his character is “just bewildered” that DNA evidence has been linked to Moira.
It also looks like Cain will struggle to confide in his wife about his cancer diagnosis amid the turn of events.
“He can see she’s struggling to deal with what’s going on inside there, so he feels that to burden her with the honesty of his diagnosis wouldn’t be the right thing to do,” the actor explained. “So he decides, for better or for worse, it’s best not to tell Moira.”

Jeff admitted it could potentially break their marriage too, noting: “There’s a series of obstacles and hurdles that lay in front of them that I think are really going to challenge them as a couple.
“As to whether it makes or breaks them, I don’t think I even know just yet but it’s going to be really interesting to see.”
The star further teased one particular scene that that could span as long as 12 minutes.

“Working with someone like Natalie [J Robb], we really bounce off each other,” he said. “We did our work, we did lots of Zoom or FaceTime calls with each other prior to coming to the floor with it so we could just then let it go and try and get the best take in.
“I hope the audience stick with this scene because it’s a really important scene within this particular story and I think it’s a great Cain and Moira scene. Fingers crossed for that one but it was a challenge and a joy to do.”
