HOT NEWS!! Coronation Street reveals emotional funeral farewell – as Maggie acts suspiciously

Coronation Street has revealed Jim McDonald’s emotional farewell, ahead of his funeral next week. But as Steve prepares to say goodbye to his estranged father, it seems Maggie Driscoll is hoping to bury something too.

Matriarch Maggie has made her feelings about Steve quite clear in the last few weeks, opening shunning his friendship with her son Ben. Viewers believe that Maggie’s disapproval could be because she had an affair with Jim in the ’80s, making Steve and Ben half-brothers.

Next week’s episodes see Steve asking Ben to attend Jim’s funeral, in the absence of his mum Liz and twin Andy. The Rovers landlord kindly agrees to be his moral support, but Maggie instructs him to stay out Steve’s private business.

In a newly released spoiler clip, Steve nervously waits for the arrival of the car to take the family to the funeral. The residents of Weatherfield, including Ben, share their condolences before he heads off to the church.

“I know today’s gonna be difficult. I’ll be thinking of you,” Eva Price tells her neighbour, with Sally Metcalfe also wishing him good luck.

However, not everyone has messages of support for the cabbie on his difficult day, as Maggie is seen lurking nearby with a worried expression on her face. Does Jim’s death mean her mysterious secret will be buried for good, or could their possible affair (and Ben’s true paternity) still be revealed?

Following the funeral, the mourners gather in The Rovers to raise a glass to Jim, with his former Army friends also making an appearance. As they share stories about Jim’s colourful past, Maggie’s mood continues to sour.

She tries to remove Ben from the wake by reminding him of his upcoming hospital appointment. But will her suspicious behaviour lead to unwanted questions?
