HOT NEWS!! Emmerdale and Coronation Street stars confirm unexpected crossover in new project

Two Emmerdale and Coronation Street stars have confirmed an unexpected crossover in a new project.

We already knew Emmerdale’s Michelle Hardwick had been cast in the upcoming film Eyes of Bairns, but it’s now been announced that Corrie’s Sydney Martin is also on board.

The film focuses on a woman named Rose who’s managed to create a well-rounded life and drawn a line under the horrors of her past.

However, her father contacts her from his deathbed after not seeing her for 20 years. Will he apologise for the horrible things he did to her and can she forgive him?

Hardwick plays the present day version of Rose, while Martin plays her in her younger years.

“What a privilege,” Martin wrote on her Instagram Stories, adding that she’s working with “the most loveliest team… how lucky am I?”

The filmmakers announced Martin’s casting on Instagram this week, which also revealed fans can support the film through crowdfunding or enter into a prize draw to win a signed copy of the script.

Hardwick assured fans recently that she’s filming the short film alongside her soap commitments, and won’t be leaving the show.

That’s not the only Corrie and Emmerdale crossover we can expect, though. The ITV soaps will be joining forces at the start of next year to kick off the new broadcasting schedule.

Details are thin on the ground at the moment and Emmerdale’s Danny Miller recently revealed even the cast are being kept in the dark.

“I genuinely don’t know, and I’m as interested as everyone else to find out what they’re going to do with it,” he said on the Live Laugh Luke podcast. “It’s very much a secret, closed-off project at the moment. The powers that be know what’s going on; it trickles down to us eventually.”

He did add though that the producers “don’t want to make it look like it’s just a p**s take”, noting: “They want to make it a really good, high-end drama.”
