The Driscolls have been excitedly waiting for teenager Will to return from his school trip, but this week panic set in for the family when he didn’t arrive at the train station and wasn’t answering his phone.

Ben set about returning to Hull, their previous home, to track down his son – but first, Eva found a love note from Will that implied he was in a relationship.

In today’s episode, Ben returned from his trip disappointed, having been unable to find his son, and the police turned up at the pub to investigate his disappearance.

But as Eva welcomed the officers inside, Will was watching on from across the street, and he made a mysterious phone call.

While his family spoke to the police, Will snuck around the back of the pub and offered unsuspecting Lily £20 if she fetched something for him inside.

This was later revealed to be his passport, but instead of following his orders, Lily told Ben and Eva that she’d seen Will – though he had run off again before they could catch him.

Ben was furious with his son, but Will later returned home properly with his former athletics coach Megan in tow.

Megan explained that she had found Will using the showers in the sports complex and sleeping in the changing rooms back in Hull, so she drove him straight to Weatherfield.

Ben, Eva and Maggie demanded answers, so Will told them that he isn’t happy about the move and wants to stay in Hull with his friends – and explained away the love letter as being from ages ago.

Eva vowed to make the family dynamic work in their new home, but Ben was still convinced that Will was hiding something.

It turns out Ben was right, as Will later secretly met up with Megan in the ginnel. The pair hugged and discussed a plan so they can be together.

“We need to stop people being suspicious, not encourage it,” Megan said. “You’ve got to stop being a loose cannon. We’ll be together again soon; we just need to bide our time.”
