If you thought Coronation Street’s Carl Webster couldn’t possibly stoop any lower, then you would’ve been proven wrong tonight. As if wreaking havoc within his family wasn’t bad enough, the villain showed his even nastier side when he threatened his ex-girlfriend Abi Webster.

At the start of the episode, Carl revived his charming persona to help newcomer Jodie Ramsey, who was covering for Nina Lucas in the café. The lothario noticed Jodie struggling with the till and quickly jumped to her aid.

The pair got to know each other in a flirty chat, with Carl revealing that he would be leaving Weatherfield as soon as he can “raise the funds”. But their conversation was interrupted by Abi, who promptly left after seeing her ex.

Later, at The Rovers, Carl’s appearance also drove Summer Spellman and Nina out of the pub. Jodie questioned why he had so many enemies on the street, but she still accepted his offer to buy her a drink.

Resentful Abi witnessed the pair sharing another flirty moment as they left the pub together, and described Jodie as Carl’s “next victim”.

“Oh, change the record, Abi. It’s getting boring now. And I never forced you to do anything you didn’t want to. Not my fault you can’t keep your knickers on around me,” retorted Carl.

“You’re scum, do you know that? And I’m gonna make sure everybody knows it,” Abi declared.

Her words seemed to rile up the typically nonchalant villain, who warned her to “be careful” what she says about him. Defiant Abi asserted that she wasn’t scared of him, to which he replied: “You should be.”

Viewers know that Carl is more than capable of making good on his threat. But will Abi back down from their feud? And how far will he go to silence her?
