HOTTEST NEWS TODAY!!! Coronation Street’s Roy secret sparks more gossip – but who’s he writing to?
Roy Cropper’s secret has sparked more gossip in tonight’s Coronation Street, after some of the residents of Weatherfield questioned who he has been writing to. Viewers will know that Roy has recently had a strange obsession with the post and in Wednesday’s episode, we finally found out why.
When Nina Lucas quizzed Roy on his fixation with the post, she asked him if anything was going on and Roy said: “I have enrolled in a scheme to exchange correspondence with people who are in prison.
“Having been in prison myself, I know how isolating that is, and a scheme like this could be a lifeline to people with few friends and family.”
Opening up to Nina without letting slip any specifics, Roy admitted that he had been writing to three prisoners, saying: “I’d rather not betray any confidences.”

In today’s episode, we found out the identity of one of the people behind the secret letters. After being quizzed about his mystery pen pal, Roy told Brian that he wasn’t only writing to prisoners and had also been writing to one of the prisoner’s mothers.
Ed popped into the cafe where Roy asked him to install a library box on the advice of his new mystery friend. “I’m thinking of starting a small book-exchange scheme here in the cafe, and I wondered if you might construct me a library box,” Roy asked Ed.

After Roy said, “A friend of mine has seen a similar scheme in a cafe near to where she lives”, Nina quizzed Roy, asking if he had a new “lady friend”.
Later, Brian told Nina that Roy had been writing to the mother of one of his prisoner pen pals, saying: “Roy mentioned about writing to some lad in prison, and his mother got in contact saying how much she appreciated it. Might be her.”
Could something further develop between the pair?
