HOTTEST NEWS TODAY!!! One of Coronation Street’s biggest ever legends returning this Christmas

We only said goodbye to her last Christmas, but already a Coronation Street legend is reportedly returning to the ITV soap.

Gail Platt (Helen Worth) left the cobbles for pastures new after marrying Jesse Chadwick on Christmas Day last year, finally getting her happy ever after.

There was a lot of speculation in the lead-up to the wedding as to whether it would actually go ahead, but thankfully Jesse and Gail put their differences aside and tied the knot.

The episode, which included a surprise appearance from the ghost of Richard Hillman, marked the end of a 50-year stint for Gail.

Now, it seems as though she won’t be missing out on this year’s festivities either, as she is reportedly set to return.

‘Corrie bosses are keeping the exact details under wraps but it’s understood she takes the chance on Christmas Day to connect with the family,’ a TV insider told The Sun.

‘And it [couldn’t] be more timely as the Platts find themselves in yet another drama, one that they’ve had to deal with by themselves since the Platts’ matriarch moved abroad.

‘It’s a move which is guaranteed to thrill soap fans, who wondered whether we’d ever catch a glimpse of show favourite Gail on the cobbles again.’

Helen has reportedly already filmed her return scenes. Metro has reached out to Coronation Street for comment.

Earlier this year, show boss Iain MacLeod hinted at the possibility of a return for Gail.

‘Helen and I have had a conversation where she’s said, “There might be times in my future where I’ll come back”,’ he told The Daily Star.

‘If there’s a big storyline going on with the Platt family, she might want to come in and play a role in that.

‘We certainly wanted to leave the door open so that was possible. We wanted that to still be on the cards.’

Since Gail’s exit, the Platts have lost Max Turner to prison after he set fire to the family home, waved Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) off as she moved to London, before welcoming her back again, and have been embroiled in a tense war with new neighbours Carla Connor (Alison King) and Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) over bins.

Most recently, Shona and David (Julia Goulding and Jack P Shepherd) have fallen pregnant with a baby girl.

Devastatingly, they have since learnt that the baby has a mass growing on her neck, and if they choose to go through with the pregnancy, they will need to undergo exit surgery, which is a risky procedure for both mum and baby.

Could news of Shona’s pregnancy bring Gail back to Weatherfield?
