In Thursday’s #YR recap, Claire asks Kyle to dinner, Chelsea strong arms Adam, and Nikki’s brought into the loop. Adam Betrays Victor’s Trust — and Nikki Puts a Devious New Twist On a Plan
At the Abbott mansion, Kyle tells Diane how Harrison tried to get him and Claire together again. She asks, “Did it work?” Kyle admits Harrison reminded them of when they were in sync, but they’ve moved on. He’s learned you can’t force relationships.
Kyle understands why Claire has to focus on herself before settling down. If the stars aligned and moved them back into each other’s orbit, he wouldn’t fight it. He loves Claire, but he thinks she’s looking for something he can’t offer.

Diane thinks Kyle’s a catch, but he insists Claire wants adventure and he doesn’t have Holden’s edge. He wants stability… like Diane and Jack. They go over the ups and downs that brought them all to this point and hug. Diane thinks Claire will discover that chasing adventure is hollow.
Nikki’s Advice
At the ranch, Claire and Nikki discuss the situation with Chancellor. Nikki could kill Cane and Phyllis. She’s worried how far Victor will go to get his company back, and whether it will risk his health. Claire wants to help.

Nikki asks if she’s considered getting back with Kyle. Claire says her ex realizes they’re in different places in life right now. She tells Nikki about Harrison’s little game, and her grandmother notices how her face lights up.

Claire still thinks about Kyle, and part of her misses him. Nikki clucks that she and Victor broke up many times, but always found their way back. If she and Kyle are meant to be, the same will be true. Nikki advises Claire to follow her heart.
Adam’s Betrayal
At Society, Chelsea complains to Adam about them being forced to vacate their office. Adam tells her Victor has a plan that could give them more time. Chelsea wants to know the details, but Adam explains that even Nikki can’t know.

Adam wants her to have plausible deniability. Chelsea complains that Victor’s protecting the other family members and not him. Adam loves that “Pops” is putting his trust in him. When Chelsea pressures, he finally tells her his dad wants to make Cane believe Lily, Mattie and Charlie are in jeopardy as leverage. Chelsea gawps, “He’s not going to kidnap Lily and the twins, is he?!”

Adam says the plan is to make Cane think they’re holding his loved ones, and they have to move fast. Chelsea thinks it could work, but Lily, Charlie and Mattie would have to be taken off the radar completely. Adam doesn’t see how they can pull this off without forced coercion. Chelsea asks if he could really go that far… even to save Newman.
Adam would never put them in any real danger. Chelsea grudgingly admits she’s on board with this plan. If they can keep Lily and her family safe while convincing Cane they’re in danger, it’s game over.
Run-In
Claire and Kyle run into each other in Crimson Lights and he remembers her favorite scone. They banter and she’s impressed to hear that Kyle and Jack offered Victor a deal for the AI so they could destroy it. She wonders if he thinks the takeover of Newman is fitting karma for what Victor’s done over the years.
