Brook Lynn and Chase head to Maxie’s house to support Mac, Felicia, and the kids, even though Chase has been suspended. Chase eventually asks Mac if this will be awkward, but Mac says tonight is about the kids.
Georgie and Spinelli went to Boston to be with Maxie, and Felicia has set up a webchat to talk to Robert and Sasha later. (RIP Tristan!) Nathan checks in with Cody and hopes that the saddle will be here for James in time. Cody is busy tracking it as they speak.

Nina and Obrecht arrive, having been invited by Nathan, and Cody gets a text that the present for James is stuck at the shipping port. Since there are no drivers to deliver it, he’s going to get it.
James approaches Nathan and Cody and asks if they are mad at him for not going to see his mom. Nathan says nobody is mad at him, and his mom would want him to have fun and a good Christmas. Nathan offers to take the boy to see his mom next week.
James notes Cody has his coat on and asks if he’s leaving. Cody says he’s not. Brook Lynn announces the dinner is ready. Desperate, Cody calls Molly, who has just arrived at the hospital, and says he needs her help with James.

Meanwhile, Obrecht urges Nina to find some holiday spirit. Nina can’t stop thinking about the look of pain on Portia’s face in court.
What’s Happened to Portia?
At the hospital, Portia packs up her office. She tells Liz she’s not been fired, only suspected. Hopefully, she’ll be back soon, but she wonders if she’s kidding herself. Portia says her career is all she has left now. She never wanted her mistakes to hurt the hospital, but she doesn’t regret what she did to protect her daughter.

Liz says all her boys are away this year (shocker!), so she’s welcome to spend Christmas with her. Portia feels she should spend Christmas alone to think. Liz leaves her friend.
As she finishes packing up, Isaiah stops by to see how Portia is doing. She cries, she’s not great, and she’s so sorry their involvement is now public knowledge, as now he’s being investigated too. Isaiah says if they are lucky, this will be their baby’s first Christmas, and he wants them to spend it together.
War or Peace?
Britt and Lucas run into one another on the steps. Lucas suggests that they call a truce for Christmas. They chat, and Britt explained that Nina and her brother had invited her to a family gathering, but things are still icy with her mom, so it’s best that she was called into work. Later, Britt gets a photo from her mom of her and Nathan, and Lucas thinks it’s nice that her mom is thinking of her.

Gio talks with Rocco, who still isn’t ready to forgive his dad. Gio asks him not to be mad at him on his account, as he’s trying, and to give him a break.
Dante tells his dad he fears he should leave so as not to mess up Christmas. Sonny says that would be a mistake, and he must prove to Rocco that he’s here for him, no matter what.

Rocco chats with Charlotte, who pushes him to make things right with Dante, who is trying for his and Gio’s sake. She’d give anything to be with her dad today.
Later, Gio tells Sonny that he is going to step out to the Scorpios’ party as Emma invited him. Sonny is proud that he came by and called a truce with Dante, calling him a good brother to Rocco. Sonny says finding out about Gio is the best thing to happen to him this year.
Donna Makes a Discovery!
At Carly’s, Jack surprises her with another gift, which he says she can’t open until Christmas. Carly thanks him and says she’s headed to Sonny’s with Donna tonight. He knows he wouldn’t be welcomed, but looks forward to celebrating with her later.

Up in the attic, Valentin decorates a tree as Donna opens the door to head inside. Valentin hides, Donna sees the tree, and assumes Santa has been here.

Back in the kitchen, Carly brings up to Jack how she never expected they’d be where they are when she first visited him in Pentonville. Jack says it was a surprise to him, too.
Donna appears and tells her mom that Santa left a Christmas tree in the attic, and she needs to see it. Carly reminds her that she’s not supposed to be in the attic, but she needed a ribbon for her daddy’s present. Kristina walks in, surprised to see Brennan, who decides to take this opportunity to leave.
Outside, Jack makes a call to pull the trigger on Britt Westbourne. (This is before she gets the news that she got her license back, which was what she told him he had to do for her to cooperate.)
Back inside, Carly heads to the attic and says Valentin is okay, and Donna thinks Santa put up the tree. Valentin says this is his first Christmas without Charlotte, and he thanks her for letting him stay. He urges her to enjoy her holiday with her family.
Families Open Special Gifts
Kristina and Donna arrive at Sonny’s and say Carly is on her way. Gio tells Donna that he’s glad to see her before he leaves. She asks if he’s going to see his girlfriend Emma, and he says he is. She reminds him to get in bed before Santa arrives, and maybe tomorrow he can play Christmas carols for them on his violin. Gio explains he doesn’t have a new one yet, so she smiles and says that Santa might bring him one.
Carly arrives later and learns from Donna that Gio still doesn’t have a violin to play tomorrow. Carly is shocked Sonny hadn’t already gotten him one, and he admits he and Ned went in on one together. They are waiting for the right moment and a sign from Gio.
As Donna opens her final Advent calendar day, Carly notices Charlotte looking at the keychain her dad had her deliver. Just then, Carly recalls she forgot her mom’s nativity set and asks Charlotte to come with her to get it, as it’s really fragile. They head out. Meanwhile, Donna wants her dad to open her present, and hands it to him.
