In today’s #YR recap, Phyllis feels Cane’s wrath, Victor receives a surprise visitor as he gears up for war, and Nick receives controversial marching orders. Nick’s Ordered to Cozy Up to [Spoiler] as Victor Prepares for War With Cane
Adam arrives at Newman, having been summoned by Victor, who tells him they have to wait for his siblings. Adam wonders if Cane’s finally made his move and points out Victoria hasn’t been back since Cole died. She appears with Nick, and declares she’d never abandon the family. They all want to know if they’re preparing for a war with Cane… or if they’re already in one.
Victor fills his children in on Cane’s AI software, which can destabilize a company and move massive amounts of money around until you can buy it for cents on the dollar. They’ll stop Cane Ashby. He reveals that he’s blackmailing Cane over Colin’s swindle. Ashby denied everything, but they’re going to force him to hand over his software.
Will Cane Make Headway?
Cane comes upon Lily in the park, and she tells him she watched his video… it made her cry, as she saw a flicker of the man she used to love and trust. Sitting, Cane asks if she’s spoken to the kids about it. Lily hasn’t, and warns he’ll have to be patient. It will take a lot more than a video for any of them to trust him again.
Cane insists he wasn’t looking for a quick fix. Lily’s sure he hasn’t abandoned his plans and suspects the remorse could be another con. Cane, irked, complains that he’s genuine and she just doesn’t want to see it. Lily says the only way he can prove it is to give honest answers as Cane. How much is he willing to expose to gain back her trust?
Will Phyllis and Michael Make Up?
At Crimson Lights, Michael leaves Lauren a voicemail about a lucrative new job offer. As he disconnects, Phyllis appears and wonders, “Who’s the lucky boss?” They bicker until Phyllis re-focuses on his new job. She’s sure it’s Cane; he has big plans and needs a fixer.
Michael’s irked that Phyllis has been giving him the cold shoulder and is only speaking to him now because of Cane. They get into it over his betrayal, defending Sharon. Michael, boggled, can’t believe she still won’t let this go. Phyllis claims it made her question their special relationship. Humbled, Michael apologizes; she was a victim too. Phyllis will wipe the slate clean if he tells her who he’s working for.
Michael calls Phyllis out for trying to barter with their friendship. Phyllis tells him she’ll find out anyway since she’s Cane’s second-in-command. Michael wonders if Ashby would confirm this. Phyllis recommends he take Cane’s offer… he’s the best in the business.
Who Will Phyllis Upset Next?
In the park, Lily wants to know Cane’s reasons for coming to Genoa City. He insists he’s put those plans to bed. Lily still wants him to come clean. He’s considering it when Phyllis happens along. A bickering match ensues between Phyllis and Cane over whether there is still Arabesque business to go over.
Lily takes this as confirmation that Cane’s plans are still on and marches off. Cane explodes at Phyllis, asking, “Do you have any idea what you’ve just done?!” He rants about all the times Phyllis has shown up uninvited or unannounced. Red apologizes, but he says it’s too late; Lily thinks he’s lying. Phyllis informs him that he may not think their relationship is over, but Lily does.
Phyllis understands Cane wanting to rekindle the magic with an ex, but his dream of getting back with Lily may be just that. Cane, clearly steaming, asks if she’s finished and then tells her to listen closely. “Don’t you ever discuss my private life with me again. Do you understand me?!” With that, he leaves.
Who Visits Victor?
At Newman, Victoria, Nick and Adam want to know what their father will do with Cane’s dangerous software. Nick and Victoria hope that their father wouldn’t use it for ill-gotten gains. Adam shrugs that Cane didn’t have any qualms about it. Victor is about to reply when Michael knocks. Victor agrees to see him and dismisses his offspring.
Victor tells Michael if he’s come to get his job back, to forget it. Michael announces that he already has a better offer… from Cane Ashby. Victor, of course, has been expecting this given Cane knows that they had a falling out. Victor asks what the lawyer wants. Michael wanted to tell him before he heard it from someone else. Victor needles about Lauren calling the shots, but Michael won’t be baited and asks, “Don’t you miss it? Our friendship?” Victor just wants to know if he’ll go to work for Ashby.
Given the possibility, Adam thinks Nick befriending Cane could come in handy now. Nick doubts he’d share information with him. Victoria suggests he could get it from Phyllis, who is Ashby’s hacker. Nick says, “No,” but Victoria and Adam pressure him. Victoria declares that her brother needs to become the redhead’s best friend and confidante once again.
In Victor’s office, Michael says he hasn’t decided yet about Cane’s generous offer. Victor flippantly says he should accept it. Baldwin’s surprised that he’d want this. Victor thinks he’s lost it a bit. Michael realizes he wants him to work for Cane, but he’d really be working for him. It would be his way back in. Victor knows his former attorney came there hoping he’d suggest just such an arrangement.
