Kevin rocked by a bombshell in Coronation Street and reacts badly to Debbie

There’s an age-old question that has puzzled Coronation Street Viewers since the dawn of time. Why does Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) never smile? One word – family.

His wife Abi Webster (Sally Carman-Duttine) doing the dirty with his sleazy toe-rag of a half-brother Carl (Jonathan Howard) was bad enough. Then Kevin discovered that his own sister Debbie knew about the affair and kept it secret to spare his feelings.

A betrayal like that is enough to take the meat out of anyone’s hotpot. Whilst Kevin has always had a rocky relationship with his sister, they’ve managed to patch things up since her heart-breaking dementia diagnosis.

But soon, Debbie makes a decision that sends her relationship with her big brother spiralling into the gutter.

Her condition worsening, Debbie panics to discover that she’s accidentally booked the wedding for 2027 instead of 2026. Fortunately, Carl and Abi swoop into save the day by securing a new venue at the last minute. This sweet gesture is enough to convince a touched Debbie to invite the pair to her wedding.

That sound you can hear is every Corrie fan in the country screaming that this is Debbie’s worst idea since letting Carl get his greasy mitts on her business bank accounts – and they’re not alone.

Kevin’s life fell apart when he discovered Abi had been sleeping with his brother
Debbie’s doting fiancé Ronnie (Vinta Morgan) is not in favour of this last-minute change to the guest list, predicting that Kevin will be unwilling to share canapes with his love-rat brother and cheating wife.

But Debbie defies Ronnie and gently breaks the news to Kevin that Abi and Carl will be attending the wedding.

As Ronnie predicts, Kevin reels from the betrayal, thrusting his wedding invitation at Debbie and refusing to attend. If only someone had warned her…

Viewers have seen Kevin struggle to come to terms with Abi’s infidelity with Carl as he gambled away his car to ex-wife Sally in a poker game.

Given how badly he’s dealing with the end of his marriage, it’s anyone’s guess how this latest betrayal will affect his mental state.

Will Kevin be there on his sister’s big day? Or has Debbie pushed him away for good?
