Major Risk for Brody: Ryan Mulvey Reveals He “Won’t Be Filming Until the New Year” – Did a Crossover Invitation Alter His Storyline?

Fans Panic After Viral Clip Sparks Exit Fears

Coronation Street viewers were left in a frenzy this week after actor Ryan Mulvey, who plays Brody Michaelis, appeared to hint at his departure from the ITV soap. The confusion began when Ryan posted a TikTok captioned “A day in the life of an unemployed actor”, leaving fans fearing that his character’s time on the cobbles was already over.

Ryan, who joined Coronation Street just eight months ago after a notable stint in Hollyoaks, quickly became a familiar face thanks to his role in the recent car theft and crash storyline. So when his post surfaced, it sparked a wave of worried comments.

One fan pleaded, “Unemployed??? Please tell me Brody hasn’t left!” while another wrote, “Wait, what? You leaving Corrie?”Corrie's Brody reveals epilepsy - Epilepsy Action

Ryan Sets the Record Straight

Responding to the speculation, Ryan shared a follow-up video to calm fans’ nerves.

“Quickly wanna address also, I’m still at Coronation Street,” he said with a laugh. “As all actors know, you go through really busy and really quiet periods. I’m just in a quiet period, in between storylines and whatnot.”

He went on to explain that although he’s not currently filming, Brody hasn’t gone anywhere:

“I’m not filming until, like, the New Year. But as soap actors, that’s kind of what you do. You just go from really busy to really quiet.”

Ryan added that his TikToks were simply “a bit of fun content” to keep fans entertained while he waits to return to set.Inside Coronation Street's Brody star Ryan Mulvey's life with famous dad | Leicestershire Live

From Car Thief to Fan Favourite

Brody has quickly become one of Coronation Street’s more unpredictable younger characters. Last month, he was involved in a dramatic crash after stealing cars for Carl Webster, alongside Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne).

Reflecting on filming the high-octane scenes, Ryan told Soap Scoop:

“That’s been so much fun. You get to go on location and drive quite a posh car, which is fun. Doing it with someone close in age — like Liam — made it even better. You’re on set, driving a Porsche. What’s not to love?”

While Brody’s future storylines remain under wraps, Ryan’s assurance that he’ll be back filming in early 2026 suggests more drama is on the way.

Corrie’s Future Looks Bigger Than Ever

Ryan’s comments come amid excitement for Coronation Street’s upcoming Corriedale crossover event with Emmerdale, which promises to be one of the most ambitious specials in soap history.

Co-star Vicky Myers (Lisa Swain) was recently confirmed as one of the first Corrie actors taking part in the special, joining Emmerdale’s Danny Miller (Aaron Dingle). Myers teased the scale of the crossover in a statement:

“When I read the script and found out how two worlds collide, who’s involved, and how the events of the night will unfold… wow. It’s going to be unmissable.”JJ Osborne – Latest spoilers for the Hollyoaks character

Brody’s Story Isn’t Over Yet

So for fans worried about Ryan Mulvey’s cryptic post — rest easy. Brody isn’t gone, just waiting in the wings for his next big moment on the cobbles.

And judging by his popularity, when he does return, it’s safe to say Coronation Street will have plenty more chaos — and charm — in store for him.
