NEW UPDATE! Coronation Street lines up huge rift for Shona and David – as Jodie strikes
Coronation Street is lining up a huge rift for couple Shona and David Platt. It comes as sister Jodie Ramsey continues her strange behaviour as she works her way into their lives.
The character arrived on the cobbles earlier this year in the Corriedale crossover, though her actions have cast doubt over her motives towards the family. Next week will see things get even more suspicious when Shona overhears Jodie claiming daughter Harper is her’s not and Shona’s.
However, Shona brushes off her sister’s words – though it appears the storyline could get more sinister in the future, as reports have emerged that Jodie plans to “steal” Shona’s life in revenge for her abandoning her as a child.
Addressing whether her chaotic childhood and now-stable life has made her blind to Jodie’s red flags, Shona star Julia Goulding said: “She’s so happy to have her sister back and so determined to make amends for leaving her in the past that she’s letting Jodie get away with more than she should.
“At this stage, she’s either genuinely unaware or just choosing not to see it.”

Julia explained that her character is “highly strung, emotionally exhausted, and physically drained” at the moment, with David and her sister’s support “getting her through it”.
“There’s definitely a bit of an eye roll when it comes to the Platts involving themselves in everything, but she is genuinely grateful for Jodie,” she added. “In Shona’s eyes, Jodie is the one really rallying for her.”

However, it appears that small fractures in her and David’s relationship could get worse, especially with Jodie’s meddling.
“I think ‘hairline fractures’ is the best way to put it,” she noted. “They are both incredibly tired and getting irritated with one another, but they are still solid.
“However, those cracks are starting to show specifically because of Jodie’s influence. Eventually, those hairline fractures are probably going to turn into canyons.”
