Theo runs out to grab Paulina’s phone that she forgot only to get stopped by JJ once again in the square! Theo freezes and starts panicking as JJ demands he turn around, then just stares at his onetime shooter.
Once JJ realizes who he is, Theo snaps at him that he’s doing exactly what he did before, and if he had a gun, he could be dead right now. “You saw a black man at the wrong place, at the wrong time, and you immediately went on the offensive.” JJ insists that’s not what he did, but Theo lays into him.
JJ tries escorting Theo to City Hall and wants to talk — something’s been off. Theo tells him what that is and why he hasn’t talked to JJ in almost a year. Since JJ rejoined the force. Theo’s been pissed off ever since. (He should connect with Gabi on how she feels about JJ’s job…) JJ quit because he said he didn’t have the judgement to be a cop, and Theo doesn’t buy that it’s changed since he was shot.
Can Belle and EJ Survive the Elevator?
Belle wakes from her nap, still trapped with EJ in the elevator — and still insisting she regrets ever getting involved with him! EJ cheerfully prods her, telling her that she’s the one who came to the hospital to see him.

Belle shuts down every attempt he makes to say they still want each other, but it doesn’t stop EJ from needling her. She starts having another asthma attack and she blames it on EJ again, which makes him go all wounded puppy and pull back as far as he can.
What’s Next for Cat and Chad?
Cat and Chad bask in the afterglow of making love for the first time. And the glow glow of the candles. They both agree everything was perfect, especially after both struggling for ages to get close to people following their tragedies.
After they’re dressed, Leo calls Chad to tell him that the power outage may be from the hospital renovations. Chad then checks in with Julie, who says the kids are in bed, but she’s worried about Thomas. He seemed a bit off. (Because of Rachel, yesterday, of course!) Chad tells Cat that he doesn’t want to hide them anymore. And she’s just fine with that. His family won’t take it well, but it is what it is.
Will Xander Keep Putting In the Work?
Sarah and Xander are also basking in their lovemaking, grab some ice cream (keep that freezer closed or everything will thaw!) and decide that this blackout could be the best thing that’s happened to them. But they run into some friction, not from going THREE TIMES in a row, but because Xander still wants to back out of couples therapy.

Probably because he’s worried about slipping with the whole beating of Philip thing… But Sarah won’t let him worm his way out of it, so he reluctantly agrees to work things out. Just as they’re hoping they can stay forever if the power stays off, it turns back on.
As the Blackout Ends
EJ panics and wants to call 911 again. Between the cologne and the tight space and her getting upset, the asthma’s hitting Belle hard. He tries his best to calm her and promises he’ll accept they’re over for good.
The power comes back on and they get out, and Belle can breathe again in the open space. She heads home and they awkwardly (and more than a little sadly) say goodnight. But then EJ gets a text from Gwen telling him the electrician caused the blackout. Oops!
