Coronation Street’s Sydney Martin has wowed her co-stars with a stunning hair transformation. The actor, who plays Betsy Swain on the soap, has traded in her signature blonde locks to (quite literally) return to her brunette roots.

Martin shared her new look in an Instagram video, lip-syncing to ‘Beautiful Liar’ by Beyoncé and Shakira. “She’s back home. @jacki_hair_beauty obsessed with you as always,” she wrote in the caption.

In the video, the star gave fans a quick look at her existing blonde hair, which she has been sporting for almost two years on-screen. She then covered the camera and revealed her brown curls in a smooth transition.

Martin’s transformation received a heap of praise from her followers and Corrie co-stars, including Sally Carman (Abi Webster), Tanisha Gorey (Asha Alahan) and Georgia Taylor (Toyah Battersby).

“Aghhh!!! I cannot cope with, you look unreal bestie,” commented Cait Fitton, who plays Lauren Bolton.

“Love it! You’re beautiful. x,” added Vicky Myers, who plays Martin’s on-screen mum Lisa Swain.

As Corrie films episodes months ahead of broadcast, it’s likely Betsy won’t be sporting her new look for a while. A recent flashforward saw her at the centre of the drama – with her blonde hair – as she was quizzed by the police after discovering a dead body.

The episode alternated between the present and a date in April, which happened to be Carla Connor and Lisa’s wedding day. During the flashforward, a shaken Betsy explains how she came across the victim, whose identity is yet to be revealed.

Back in present day, Megan Walsh, Theo Silverton, Maggie Driscoll, Jodie Ramsey and Carl Webster were confirmed as the five potential victims, with their actions putting huge targets on their respective backs.

The dead body will be unveiled later this spring, before the search begins for the equally mysterious culprit.
