‘The Young & The Restless’ Recruits Former ‘General Hospital’ Star Roger Howarth For Mystery Role
EXCLUSIVE: It’s a CBS homecoming for Roger Howarth: the longtime soap actor is joining The Young and the Restless for a major story arc this fall.
Sadly, details about his character and storyline are being kept under wraps. Deadline has learned the Emmy-winning actor will begin taping in mid-September for his on-screen debut later this year.
From 2001 to 2010, Howarth played Paul Ryan on CBS’ old sudser As the World Turns. He went on to play Todd Manning on One Life to Live from 1993 to 2013, before joining General Hospital in 2012 to take over as Dr. Austin Gatlin-Holt.
Howarth came and went from the ABC soap until his character was fatally shot in a 2023 episode. He let fans know via Instagram at the time that his run on GH had officially ended.
“Three things that I know for sure,” wrote Howarth. “1, Daytime fans are lovely and amazing and supportive and dedicated and I am deeply grateful to each sparkly one of them. 2, I enjoyed my time at general hospital and wish the cast and crew the best and continued success. It was a pleasure working with you all. 3, Life is amazing. We just don’t ever know what’s gonna happen. How great! Turn toward the light. Always. Huge thank you to you all.”
Howarth won a Daytime Emmy for his work on One Life to Live in 1994.
