The ink is barely dry on their marriage certificate and already Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) has a roving eye in Emmerdale.

His and Gabby Thomas’s (Rosie Bentham) wedding almost didn’t happen after he began questioning his sexuality. He ended up meeting a man online, who convinced him to lay his soul bare, only to end up savagely beaten and robbed of £10,000.

Vinny went on to dob the man into the police on his wedding day and ends up testifying in court, where Gabby walks in and gets an insight into what’s been going on with her partner.

Gabby has also been hiding a whopper of a secret that she slept with someone else in Portugal. So both know their marriage hasn’t started off on the right foot – and for Vinny, he hasn’t just stopped questioning his sexualit.

With things feeling rocky, Gabby is prepared to try and save things. She feels lost and opens up to the kind ear of vicar Charles (Charles Mathurin) as she unburdens her woes.

Her talk with Charles goes so well that Vinny is caught off guard when she returns home with Charles by her side to continue their chat together.

She asks Charles for counselling, much to Vinny’s surprise.

Charles buoys the struggling pair by sharing how obvious it is that they love each other deeply and helps them believe that there is a future here. It’s probably a bit too much positivity too soon, as Lewis (Bradley Riches) is about to upset the apple cart.

As Gabby and Vinny pretend that their marriage isn’t based on lies, Lewis – who has a knack for seeing things as they are – calls a spade a spade and tells Vinny he knows what’s up. Through this brutal honesty, he becomes Vinny’s confidant.

What this means is it’s another man for Vinny to get close to and when Gabby walks in on them talking, she immediately sees that this scene does not look right.

Will she take a leaf out of Lewis’ book and call a spade a spade, or carry on pretending that all is ok?
