Violent EastEnders Christmas showdown as family member leaves Max bleeding

Max Branning (Jake Wood) will face the wrath of a family member in EastEnders this Christmas time, with the lothario seen sporting a busted lip during on-location filming.

The BBC One soap is known for going large during the festive season and this year looks set to be no different, with the Brannings at the centre of some explosive family drama.

Jimmy’s christening proves eventful as an argument erupts between Max and Jack (Scott Maslen). As the fight spills out of the church, Max sports a busted lip, with Jack having seemingly struck his sibling.

On-location filming took place, with actors Jake and Scott among those present for the shoot.

Other stars seen include Kathy Beale icon Gillian Taylforth and Cindy Beale legend Michelle Collins.

Pierre Counihan-Moullier, who plays Oscar Branning, was also pictured, as was Lauren star Jacqueline Jossa, Amy Mitchell star Ellie Dadd, Ian Beale legend Adam Woodyatt and Francesca Henry, who plays Gina Knight.

The scene is set for more drama, that’s for sure, as Max stages another almighty comeback.

The show legend, who left Walford in 2021, staged quite the return earlier this year when it was revealed that he crossed paths with Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) ahead of her return to the Square.

The two embarked on a romantic relationship, with Max agreeing to help Zoe find her son. However, the situation ended quite dramatically, with Zoe cutting ties.

Max subsequently turned up in the Square on the eve of Peter (Thomas Law) and Lauren’s wedding, leaving both Zoe and former flame Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) in shock.

Max told Stacey that he was saddened to hear of her ex-husband Martin Fowler’s (James Bye) death and that he hoped she was okay.

Tears filled his eyes as she opened up about her grief, with him admitting that he genuinely loved her, and that he still misses what he had.

Stacey responded by saying that she too was in love with him, but wondered whether she just mourns that time in her life when she was care-free.

Stace subsequently left the Square.

Max, meanwhile, has yet to re-appear, but the on-location filming confirms that he’ll be back on our screens in no time at all – ahead of what promises to be a traditionally explosive festive season in Walford.
