Since Bold & Beautiful has babyman Ridge and loco Luna running around, we didn’t think anyone else could possibly come out on top in the most-despised character contest. But surprise! The winner, if you can call it that, is neither Ridge nor Luna, nor eight-toed murderess-turned-waitress Sheila nor even poor Poppy “We’ve Decided You Were a Terrible Mother After All” Nozawa, it’s… drumroll please… Taylor Hayes.

What’s that, you say? But everyone loves Taylor? Oh no. Everyone says that they love Taylor, but look at the way she’s treated. Ridge was so ambivalent about their reunion that she had to propose to him. And he’s been about as psyched about their nuptials as we are about attending a dry wedding.

Eric was involved with Taylor not once but twice, yet he’s so cavalier about her heart — which, when broken, develops into its own syndrome! — that he openly encourages Ridge to dump her and run back to Brooke sooner than later. “Gee, thanks for the support, future father-in-law.”

Taylor is even, in a way, mistreated by her own children. They are forever insisting that she and Ridge are endgame when what their relationship really is is a never-ending game — and one that’s only fun for him! How much do you have to hate someone to push her toward a partner who has demonstrated 100 times over that she is his second choice? A partner who has hurt her a thousand times? A partner who has broken every vow he’s ever made to her, then thought up new vows and broken those, too?

Obviously, Steffy and Thomas adore their mom and don’t think that they are in any way harming her. But pointing her in Ridge’s direction? Sorry, but can any of us say that that seems like an act of kindness?
